The pandemic years have been difficult and world-altering in many ways but the enforced pause on so many things freed up head and heart space to see and pay attention to things I am privileged enough to not know much about. New World Coming, a collection of essays and interviews with those in the thick of the fray, gives voice to climate organizers, earth defenders, community builders, indigenous elders, and advocates of racial justice. The Southwest, like the entire country, has a wealth of wisdom in the Black, Brown, and Indigenous voices calling for regenerative action and Begóí and Larson’s work in collecting these stories here is both generous and needed. I highly recommend.
